The reason of using fiber jumper in couples is related to its connecting equipment. In fact, fiber jumper is a kind of communication fiber nothing but the distance which connecting two fibers communication equipment is much short, so it is called optical fiber jumper.
The general optical transmission is one receiving and the other transmitting. According to the facility request (such as video optical transceiver), facility to facility and multimode, then we use jumper in pairs. It will transmit by single fiber if it is singlemode, there is no need to use jumper in pairs. However, for devices are usually used in pairs, optical fiber jumper are bought in pairs.
